LeBron James may win an unprecedented fifth NBA championship in his 20th season as the Lakers have advanced to the Conference Finals against all odds.
Ray Allen was integral to James winning his second NBA title with the Heat and complimented his former teammate while speaking on a visit to the NBA Academy India.
“I think your legend grows every day, and the longer you’re available (to play). Longevity, and consistency, ultimately breeds greatness. Lebron has been persistent. And he has been available for a long time. So, the longer he plays, gets more buckets, more passes, and more rebounds, it just makes him more noteworthy for a long period of time… LeBron was a great teammate. The one thing he did was he took incredible care of his body, understanding how to eat and stretch obsessively. And he had fun. He enjoyed the game and enjoyed life off the court. All of that is what has allowed him to be so successful. And you can still see that he is enjoying playing the game of basketball. That, ultimately, is what fans end up hanging on to and appreciating,”
Allen and LeBron were teammates for two seasons on the Miami Heat, making the Finals in both years. Allen hit the famous Game 6 shot in 2013 en route to the Heat winning the title but fell to the Spurs next season in 2014.
Is LeBron James Solidifying His GOAT Resume?
Many believe that Michael Jordan is and always will be the greatest player to ever lace up a pair of sneakers. But many modern fans have started tooting LeBron’s horn as he has become the only player that can rival MJ’s accomplishments with his own and create a split in people’s minds about this debate.
Though MJ is the GOAT for most, LeBron is firmly in the conversation ahead of any other player in history. With James still playing out his career and possibly adding a fifth ring in Year 20, the conversation keeps evolving.
LeBron averaged 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 6.8 assists in year 20 and made the All-NBA Third Team while also being named an All-Star. He broke multiple records over the regular season, including becoming the leading all-time scorer, and is breaking more in the playoffs. His career longevity is unprecedented and should be appreciated while he’s still going.
