The NBA season isn’t even over yet, there are still three series to be played, but Ja Morant has managed to get himself in trouble already. Another video of him flashing a gun went viral on Sunday, and the Grizzlies star has already been suspended.
While it’s obvious that Ja Morant should have known better, the fact that such a video got taken in the first place is a big red flag. And former Laker Juan Toscano-Anderson has questioned Morant’s friends for letting it happen.
Speaking about how often videos showing Ja negatively go viral, Toscano-Anderson tweeted, “Ja friends really the police. Why they always recording?”

He then elaborated, saying, “If ppl got they phone out recording my privacy and private time-that’s a way to never be invited around me again. However, I am mature enough to understand accountability….. But why they always recording??????”

Ja Morant’s friends and associates were called into question quite a bit when he was first seen flashing a gun. In this instance though, it does seem in the video that his friend tried to turn the camera off when he saw the gun in Ja’s hand. After everything that has happened already, it is up to Ja Morant himself to not be in these situations, regardless of what the people around him are doing.
There is no right answer in this situation, and Morant’s friends are also responsible for the backlash he will receive for his actions. But he is the one that will suffer the most. If someone wants to avoid compromising videos of themselves being put on the internet, the best way to do that is to not be in those situations in the first place.
Ja Morant Is Facing The Prospect Of Severe Punishment After Latest Problems
Ja Morant got away lightly after his issues with guns during the season, serving an 8-game suspension. It cost him honors and money on his potential contract, but nothing compared to what will likely happen to him now. Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Morant can expect to be dealing with a serious suspension after the next season begins.
“Ja Morant is facing the very real possibility of a lengthy suspension to start next season after this latest incident where he ended up carrying a firearm in his possession. This is twice in two months now… If that was a weapon in Ja Morant’s hand, he will likely face a significant suspension to start next season.”
Rival executives reportedly are hoping the league will suspend Ja Morant for half a season or more. This would be a big problem for the Memphis Grizzlies. However, by being seen with a firearm so quickly again following his initial transgression, Morant has put himself and his franchise in a terrible position.
