Russell Westbrook Commits To Play Every Game Because There Might Be One Person Who Might Travel 1,000 Miles To See Him Play
Russell Westbrook channeled his inner Kobe Bryant during his introductory press conference after signing with the Los Angeles Clippers.
The former Utah Jazz guard committed to playing every game even if he was injured because he wanted to show up and perform for the one person who may have traveled 1,000 miles just to see him play.

"I don't take this game for granted. This is something that I value, something that I cherish. Being healthy and able to play. When I was younger, some people told me you never know who's watching. I value that one kid that drove 1,000 miles to see me play this random night. And if I don't play, then I feel like I am letting that one kid down and I always had that in my mind. Like If I am able to play and be able to fight through some stuff, and go out and compete, not just for the fans but for my teammates and organization, I would do so.
Westbrook was all smiles and looked perfectly at home when he walked into field questions from the media. Earlier this week, the 34-year-old finalized a buyout with the Jazz, who he was traded to by the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Clippers were on the lookout for a bankable point guard and now Westbrook has a chance to further bolster the team's hopes of winning a championship. Speaking to the reporters, the explosive guard outlined his commitment to the team, saying that he would suit up even if he was injured.
This comes as promising news for the team and the fandom given they have been warm in embracing his arrival to his new team.
Russell Westbrook Reveals The Reason Behind Joining The LA Clippers
There's no denying that Russell Westbrook had a tumultuous time with the Los Angeles Lakers. Almost every game of his came under intense scrutiny, and the brickbats far outweighed the bouquets even though he took on the sixth-man role for the Purple and Gold this season averaging 15.9 PPG, 6.2 RPG, and 7.5 APG.
However, he felt that the Clippers made him feel valued and that they wanted him in their ranks, and that was important to the former MVP.
"That's a huge part for any normal human being...a lot of teammates and people that want you here is very important. To me, I value that a lot.”
His former OKC teammate, Paul George was vocal in his support to have Westbrook play for the Clippers, and the latter had even met with the team's superstars prior to inking a deal with the side.
It remains to be seen if Westbrook's arrival bodes well for the Clippers, who are pegged as prime playoff contenders this season.
