Russell Westbrook finalized his buyout with the Utah Jazz, and after days of rumors about his next destination, he ended up joining the Los Angeles Clippers. Westbrook has joined the noisy neighbors of the Los Angeles Lakers but seems genuinely happy after joining the team.

Westbrook’s stint with the Lakers was far from good, as he was constantly berated by fans and the media for the team’s shortcomings. In the introductory press conference, Westbrook even explained why he chose to join the Clippers.

But that’s not that wasn’t the extent of Westbrook’s happiness as he was filmed entering the first training session of his new chapter with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Russell Westbrook was joyous and couldn’t stop smiling the entire time. After having a rough time with the Lakers, Westbrook has seemingly found his home in LA, but with the Clippers. Whether that happiness lasts or not is something that we will find out after he spends a couple of months with the team.

Tyronn Lue Explains What He Wants From Russell Westbrook

The Los Angeles Clippers are looked at as one of the top teams to represent the Western Conference in the 2023 NBA Finals. Although the Clippers already had the dynamic duo of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, the team was in need of a point guard to help in taking off the ballhandling load from the duo.

But apart from that, head coach Tyronn Lue recently explained what he expects from Russell Westbrook. Lue simply wants Russ to be himself and play like the future Hall of Fame player he truly is.

We want Russ to be Russ. If he’s doing too much or not enough, I’ll let him know. We want him to be the MVP, the Hall of Famer that he is. We just gotta make sure it’s in the confines of our team… He’s excited, he just wants to win.

In the 2022-23 NBA season, Westbrook shifted to a bench role with the Lakers. But Tyronn Lue certainly wants Westbrook to do more than that for the Clippers.

But that doesn’t mean Lue will let Westbrook do everything according to him, he will keep Russ in check. Thus getting the most out of the 34-year-old.
