The Los Angeles Lakers turned things around in the second half of the 2022-23 NBA season. The team made several trades to add quality role players.

They also traded Russell Westbrook to the Utah Jazz to make space for the new players. Westbrook played 52 games for the Lakers before getting traded. Keeping that in mind, Westbrook apparently wants a ring if the Lakers win the 2023 NBA title, according to his former teammate Patrick Beverley.

“Russell Westbrook walks in. I’m like, ‘Hey, Russy.’ I told Russy, ‘I beat you to the gym today. I beat you to the gym Russy, you’re the reason I’m in here. You posted me up on the first play and got an and-1, then forget.’ Russy goes, ‘Hey Pat, Lakers win, I want my ring.’ I ain’t gonna lie, Russ, we gonna be suited and booted right there waiting on that ring.”

Russell Westbrook and Patrick Beverley had their differences earlier in their careers. But when the two became teammates with the Lakers, they solved their issues to play basketball together.

Unfortunately, the Lakers traded both Beverley and Westbrook around the NBA trade deadline. Pat Bev is now with the Chicago Bulls, while Westbrook finished his season with the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Los Angeles Lakers Have A Shot At Winning The 2023 NBA Championship

The Los Angeles Lakers barely managed to qualify for the playoffs, but have proven that they belong in the postseason.

After defeating the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round, the Lakers now hold a 1-0 lead over the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Semifinals. The Lakers outplayed the defending champions in the opening game behind a strong performance by Anthony Davis.

They are just three wins away from clinching a spot in the Western Conference Finals. As the seventh seed, it’s certainly a great achievement for the team. Now, they are seen as a legitimate threat to win the NBA title this season.

If that happens, Patrick Beverley and Russell Westbrook will be happy, as they may get rings from the organization.
