But Los Angeles Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal is skeptical about Victor Wembanyama’s true potential in the NBA. O’Neal shared his views in an exclusive interview with Sportscasting.
“No, and I’m a bit skeptical because the good and bad thing about highlights,” Shaq said. “When you put your highlights on, you always show the good parts. I want to see this kid play a full game. He’s not very big — he’s tall, but he’s building up a lot of muscles, not that strong. He can shoot, he can dribble, he can do all that.
“But I’m only seeing highlights of him dunk the ball and shoot jumpers. I haven’t really seen a lot of post moves. We haven’t seen a lot of that stuff. So again, now you could be a star in France. When you come over here, you definitely got to start all over. A lot of guys have a lot of hype and came over here, some played out, and some didn’t. So I’m going to be more on the skeptical side like Charles.”

Barkley believes that until Wembanyama proves himself in the NBA, he cannot be considered a great player. But that doesn’t mean Barkley disapproved of Wembanyama’s talent.

Considering Victor Wembanyama is expected to become the next big thing in the NBA, he is already getting compared to current superstars of the league.
The 19-year-old is even getting compared to none other than LeBron James. LBJ is the face of the league, and even getting mentioned in the same sentence as him, is a great achievement.

“One, the most important thing, is to stay true to the game and the main point of anything, give to the game,” James told Mike Wilbon. “Work your butt off. Try to be better than you were yesterday every single day. Commit to the game. I believe, we always talk about the game gods. And if you disrespect the game gods, then karma is a mug.
“Second thing is, don’t forget to have fun. Because you’re gonna, it becomes a business. It becomes a business right, right away. And he’s going through it right now, you know? It’s gonna get even, I don’t want to say worse, but it gets even more demanding on you on the business side. But, at the end of the day, just have fun, man. This is a very, very small number of people who get the opportunity to do what we do and inspire people all over the world.”
LeBron James is the perfect player to direct Wembanyama in the right direction, as the King was one of the most hyped players before entering the league.
James handled those expectations perfectly, and 20 years later, he is regarded as at least the second greatest player of all time.
