The Los Angeles Lakers have never faced the LA Clippers in the NBA playoffs. Prior to this, they hadn’t met the Memphis Grizzlies either, but that changed after they made the NBA 2022-23 playoffs as the seventh seed.

The Athletic’s Law Murray tweeted that the Lakers had played all the other teams save for the Grizzlies and the Clippers in the postseason.

The Lakers and Grizzlies have never met in the postseason. Until now. That means that the only team in the Western Conference that the Lakers have not met before in the playoffs is the LA Clippers.

The Lakers booked a date with the Grizzlies after they pipped the Minnesota Timberwolves 108-102 in OT. LeBron James and Anthony Davis led from the front with 30 and 24 points, respectively, to help LA finish 7th seed. Dennis Schroder was a force as well, with 21 points off the bench.

In the meantime, the Clippers take on the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the playoffs after finishing fifth with a 44-38 record.

The LA Clippers Are Surely Favorites If They Face The Los Angeles Lakers In The Postseason

Recent history and this regular season’s skirmishes between the Clippers and the Lakers have seen the former at an advantage. They beat the Purple and Gold in all of their four encounters this season.

Overall, the Clippers have won their last 11 games against the Lakers. For these two crosstown rivals to meet, a few of the results need to go their way.

Clippers star Paul George, for one, was confident that his outfit could get the better of the Lakers. “We got their number right now,” George said on his latest episode of Podcast P.

“We just match up well against the Lakers. We got bodies to guard Bron. We got playmakers, we got scorers, we got defenders. We can kinda do multiple things to limit and give Bron a tough time. As good as he is, we got bodies over there so we give the Lakers a good run.”

It will be every fan’s wishful thinking to get these two teams to square off in the postseason. Safe to say, the clash will be nothing short of high-voltage.
