The Golden State Warriors are having a disappointing season and are hoping to solidify themselves as a top-4 team in the Western Conference.
Not having superstar Stephen Curry has adversely impacted the team, and Steve Kerr expects the reigning Finals MVP to be ready to return on Sunday against the Lakers.
Steph Curry scrimmaged this morning. Won’t play tonight or tomorrow. But Steve Kerr said “I suppose” the Lakers game on Sunday is a possible return date for Curry.

Curry has been hurt since the first week of February and has missed a month due to his leg injury. The Warriors have stayed competitive throughout this time, actually climbing the standings in Curry’s absence due to solid performances from Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole.
Steph has only played 38 games this season, with this being his second lengthy injury absence. He is averaging 29.4 points, 6.4 assists, and 6.3 rebounds.
Are The Warriors Still Contenders?
Due to the way the West is playing out this season, no one can pinpoint contenders in the West like Boston and Milwaukee in the East. The Denver Nuggets are clearly among the favorites, but are the Warriors still in that conversation after their struggles this season?
The championship DNA of Golden State can never be removed. The return of Curry to the team is going to be huge for them as the team can start preparing for the final stretch of the season and maintain full continuity with their roster.
The Warriors have a 32-30 record so far this season, stuck in the middle of the Western Conference. A loss to the Clippers tonight could drop them to the 7th seed, while a win would make them the 5th seed. It is a very tough battle in the middle of the West, and for any team to be considered title contenders, they need to break out of this rut.
