Steve Nash had an honest admission after his illustrious career and it was about not winning a ring.

In a recent interview with Montgomery & Co, “It hurts still a little bit that I didn’t win a championship, at the same time life is so much bigger than basketball. The fact that my teams didn’t get it done, that’s what makes it special to win. [I] must’ve played in four or five conference finals and never got over the hump,” he said.

“But, gave it everything I had and I was obsessed with my craft and I hope I’ll be remembered as a great teammate, leader, and competitor.”

Nash was one of the casualties after the Brooklyn Nets fired him earlier in their regular season following a poor start. And while his coaching stint that was promising ended rather abruptly, his CV as a player speaks volumes. Nash retired as an eight-time All-Star, back-to-back MVP, and NBA Hall of Famer.

Steve Nash Will Be One Of The Names Generating Franchises’ Interest Next Season

After his tumultuous run with the Nets came to an end, Nash’s name did the rounds for a few weeks. With a couple of franchises letting go of their famed coaches, Nash will find himself in demand once again during the offseason.

Earlier, former Knicks coach Jeff Van Gundy was not pleased with Nash’s ouster as Nets coach.

“You’re not finding anybody that doesn’t have the highest regard for Steve Nash in the league and I gotta say, I don’t know who wouldn’t wanna play for him. His personality, his success, his outlook on life, his compassion, and his empathy for people. To me, he’s a model of what we say we want in leadership and it’s a shame that the Nets decided to move on.”

For now, Nash will look to take the downtime as the 2022-23 season inches to an end. Come this summer, his CV will surely do the rounds again.
