Steve Nash and the Toronto Raptors have been one of the developments doing the rounds as the franchise looks for a new head coach. 

The former Phoenix Suns star has been looked at as the ideal candidate for Toronto, and now Raptors reporter Doug Smith believes the former Brooklyn Nets coach is a good fit.

Steve Nash would be a good fit and may thrive under with a more stable management and roster situation than he had to deal with in a tumultuous tenure with the Brooklyn Nets,” he said. 

Earlier, news of Nash being interviewed by the Raptors was reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania. “The Toronto Raptors met with Steve Nash to discuss their head coaching job, sources tell me and @joevardon. Nash, a Canadian basketball legend, had a .584 record (94-67) in two-plus seasons coaching the Nets. Toronto has had a wide-ranging coaching search.”

The team fired Nick Nurse after they failed to make the postseason for the first time under his run. And Nash was looked at as a suitable candidate along with JJ Redick


Steve Nash Considered To Be The Frontrunner To Land Raptors Coaching Role

While there is no official word from the Raptors’ front office at the moment, the Toronto Star said that the franchise intends to select one of the three candidates that they narrowed down to (including Nash) before the upcoming NBA Draft. 

According to Sportando, where Italian head coach of Virtus Bologna, Sergio Scariolo, was one of the choices, while Nash was the next option. With the latter being a household name in Canada, chances are he might have the edge, given his extensive experience in the NBA.

Earlier, Nash revealed that not winning a ring was one of the regrets he had in his decorated career, but now, he stands a chance to win one with the Raptors as their coach if he lands the role and leads them to victory.
