The celebrations in Denver will last the entirety of this week as the city becomes NBA Champions for the first time in its history. With the championship parade on Thursday, the city will be in a jubilant mood for the next few days.

Aaron Gordon is a man of the people and was seen celebrating in the streets of the city after the win. He was running around shirtless and was embraced by people with love as they held him aloft in the middle of the night.

Gordon is clearly having a blast as a part of the Denver Nuggets. The No. 4 overall pick from the 2014 Draft was billed as a superstar during his early years with the Orlando Magic, something he didn’t live up to. Being traded to the Nuggets helped Gordon find his role as a defensive specialist and an aggressive rim-runner, and that has now led to a championship win.

He averaged 16.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in the season and 13.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in the playoffs, arguably being the third-best Nugget behind Finals MVP Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray.

The Dynasty Starts Now

After their title win last night, Michael Malone openly expressed his desire to turn this season’s success into a dynasty. The Nuggets have all the ingredients of doing so, with a generational superstar in their prime leading the squad in Jokic. The team’s core is still pretty young, with Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr., and Aaron Gordon all being under the age of 28.

The team will have to continue tweaking the supporting pieces of the roster to not become stagnant, but free agents like Bruce Brown should be brought back. Christian Braun looks ready for a larger role next season, as the rookie impressed in the Finals with a 15-point Game 3 performance on the road.

The future is just as bright as the present for Denver, but they need to continue staying one step ahead of all the teams around them that will build rosters to try and match up.
