Fadeaway World

The Los Angeles Clippers are playing like a team destined to make an NBA Finals run this year and are looking like one of the most complete teams in the NBA. After an eventful offseason where they signed Kawhi Leonard and traded for Paul George, many people looked at them as the team to beat. This has not been the case so far as the Lakers are still the main topic of discussion in the NBA with LeBron James and Anthony Davis playing at a high level.

If the Clippers want to win a championship this year, they must look to acquire an impactful player. Here are 5 players that the Los Angeles Clippers should target.

Kevin Love

The Cleveland Cavaliers have made Kevin Love available in trade discussions and he is someone who would be a great addition to this team. Kevin Love has had a good season so far as he is averaging 15.9 points and 10.8 rebounds on 44% from the field and 37% from three. Due to the Cavs rebuilding, getting rid of Love makes a ton of sense.

It would be difficult for the Clippers to trade for Love as they do not have players that could match the salary of Kevin Love but, any trade would have to include cap fillers as well as Montrezl Harrell, Landry Shamet and a future 2nd round pick.

For the Cavaliers, this trade allows you to get off of Love’s contract and gives you a nice young player in Shamet. Harrell is a free agent this summer and he will be one of the most wanted players in the offseason.

For the Clippers, Love would be a great third option alongside Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. His scoring and rebounding would be perfect at the Power Forward position and his offensive presence would alleviate pressure from Kawhi and PG.

Andre Iguodala

Andre has been linked to the Clippers and they have a great shot at acquiring him. Iguodala was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies this past offseason from the Golden State Warriors and has stayed away from the team as he looks to be moved to a contender. Even as his career is coming to an end, Iggy could still provide a team with defense and clutch play and maybe the missing piece for the Clippers.

A potential trade would be Iggy in exchange for Moe Harkless, Jerome Robinson, and a future 2nd round pick. For the Grizzlies, you can get a young player and draft capital in exchange for Iggy instead of waiving him for nothing.

For the Clippers, Iggy was a vital part of the Warriors’ success over the years and could be the player that puts you over the Lakers. Iggy could serve as a viable 3-D player and is someone who has had success in the past in guarding LeBron.

Serge Ibaka

There are rumblings that the Raptors are looking to move on from Ibaka and the Clippers should jump on this opportunity. Ibaka was a vital part of the Raptors winning a championship last season. His defense and leadership were immense but, he has taken a step back this year. His stats are down across the board and with this being the last year in his contract, it would be smart for the Raptors to get something for him. A potential trade would be similar to the trade proposal for Andre Iguodala.

The Raptors would acquire a good 3-D player in Harkless as well as a player in Jerome Robinson who could become an impactful player for them.

For the Clippers, Ibaka would be a great addition as they are preparing to face the Lakers in the playoffs. This trade gives them an excellent rim protector and someone who could potentially contain Anthony Davis in the playoffs.

Joakim Noah

It is baffling that Noah is still a free agent as, even at his old age, he could still provide a team with interior defense and leadership. Noah last played for the Memphis Grizzlies and it was said by many that he was an amazing teammate.

Noah, now 34, has had a great career and a championship would be the cherry on top. With Noah, he would be a great rim protector for the Clippers and another player that you hope could slow down Anthony Davis. His veteran presence and winning mentality should improve the play of others and he is someone who gives his all every night, so you can count on him to always look and make the right play.

Aaron Gordon

(via NBA.com)

Aaron Gordon has not had the break-out year that many have expected him to and after regressing yet again this season, the Magic may look to trade him. Gordon looked like someone who could turn into a potential all-star coming into this season. This has not been the case as his statistics have decreased drastically in all categories. With the emergence of Jonathon Isaac, Gordon becomes expendable and the Clippers should take advantage of this opportunity.

A potential trade would be Moe Harkless, Landry Shamet, JaMychal Green, Mfiondu Kabengele and a couple of 2nd round picks in exchange for Gordon.

For the Magic, this trade gets us two young players in Kabengele and Shamet that could potentially turn into impact players. You also receive some draft capital and this trade allows you to move Isaac back to his natural position at Power Forward.

For the Clippers, a fresh start may be what Gordon needs to turn his career around. Gordon is an athletic freak who can do it all and should be an amazing third option alongside Kawhi and PG. Joining a team that is contending for the finals should boost his confidence as well as improve his play.
