Stephen A. Smith Thinks The Lakers Should Trade Kyle Kuzma For Devin Booker

Stephen A. Smith is convinced the Lakers need a marksman. Among a long list of potential targets, Smith pulled one interesting name out of the hat: Devin Booker.

In a segment on ESPN’s First Take, the esteemed NBA insider explained how the Lakers could acquire such a polarizing star.

“I think they need a marksman,” Stephen A. Smith said. “If I could package Kuzma with a multitude of players and even a pick and I can get myself Devin Booker to join Anthony Davis and LeBron James, would I do that? Hell yes.”

Needless to say, the internet was less than convinced that something like this could be pulled off.

There is plenty of reason to doubt. At least right now, Booker is worlds ahead of Booker in terms of superstar potential. This season alone, Book is averaging 25 points, 6.5 assists, and 3.8 rebounds on 50% shooting. Those averages nearly double Kuzma’s 12 point, 0.9 assist average.

Even with a package of Kuzma, Danny Green, and other role-players, the Suns are unlikely to pick up the phone.

While Stephen A’s assessment of the Lakers needing another “marksman” seems true enough, he’s naive if he thinks the Suns would ever consider trading away their franchise centerpiece.
