LeBron James is considered one of the greatest players of all time and he’s not even done with his career. The King has done impressive things ever since he entered the association and as the years go by, he keeps adding more accolades to his already impressive résumé.

It’s not a shock that plenty of people consider LeBron the GOAT but others still believe Michael Jordan is the greatest to ever do it. This debate has gotten hotter in recent months and everybody has something to say about it. One of the latest people to give his two pennies on this matter is none other than Shaquille O’Neal, one of the most dominant players in NBA history who played with James and against Jordan.

Shaq recently explained what LeBron must do to put his name at the same level or above Jordan’s in the GOAT debate. Talking on CBS Sports’ “All Things Covered” podcast, the four-time NBA champion said:

“He already passed Kobe (Bryant) and (Michael) Jordan in points,” O’Neal said, via The Score. “Now, once he gets five championships, now he’ll be closer to the GOAT. But as he gets five, he’s gonna be creeping on Kareem (Abdul-Jabbar) too (in points).

“I think he’s looking to pass Kareem, right, to get to 39,000 and then that’ll automatically put him as the best player. And if he ties Mike, I think people will probably lean a little bit more towards LeBron being the best player in the world.”

It would be interesting to see how things develop for James from here until the end of his career. As of right now, Jordan still holds the lead against the King; his accolades are better and more than LeBron’s. Regular season and playoffs stats put Jordan ahead of LeBron. In terms of honors, MJ has a big advantage over the King. Kevin Durant’s career still separates them. Bron probably would need another NBA career to be called the GOAT.

There is no doubt that he’s one of the best two players ever but right now, Michael Jordan is sitting comfortably on his throne.
