Following the end of another disappointing season, the Philadelphia 76ers seemed on the verge of a major shakeup in the offseason. With players like James Harden and Chris Paul on the table, fans were bracing for Philly to blow things up.

Instead, they stuck to their gins, going after shooters and floor spacers while keeping their duo intact.

Now, six games into the new season, and it looks like the Sixers are on track for greatness. In fact, according to Kendrick Perkins, they’ve become a legitimate threat in the East…

The 76ers have started the season 5-1, thanks to big performances from Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. But, mostly, it has been the play of the supporting cast (Seth Curry, Shake Milton, Tobias Harris) that has put this team in a position to win.

It remains to be seen how they’ll stack up against the Nets, Bucks, or Celtics in the postseason, but optimism is certainly in the air in Philadelphia right now, and Kendrick Perkins is already sold on it.
