The New York Knicks are having a pretty stellar season. After years of subpar performances, they are playing some inspiring basketball, standing 5th in the East with a 19-18 record.

With their newfound success, the Knickerbockers have put themselves back on the map, and back on the radar of stars looking to relocate. According to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, they’d make the perfect home for Portland star Damian Lillard. He made his case in a segment on “Stephen A.’s World.”

“I wish he was in another market. We’re being robbed of seeing Damian Lillard’s brilliance every single night. He’d be a starter in the All-Star game if he played in a big market. Be honest, y’all know that’s true. Dame needs to be in a big market… like my Knicks. How about that as an example?

How come he can’t be in New York? He’d look pretty good in a Knicks jersey. He’d look pretty good playing in prime time all the time, in front of celebrities every night.”

Obviously, the Knicks would benefit immensely from acquiring Lillard. As one of the best players in the league, and greatest shooters ever, Dame is a guy who can make any team competitive in the title race.

Unfortunately for New York, it’s unlikely they’ll ever have Dame on their roster. He has remained committed to the Trail Blazers, and has expressed no desire to look for a way out.

And as cool as it would be to have the star point guard lace it up in the Garden all the time, he’s not really the type to jump onto a bigger ship — he’s just fine where he’s at.
