The Los Angeles Lakers entered last season as the team to beat in the NBA. They were the reigning champions and have added some nice pieces to an already impressive core.

Sadly, things didn’t go their way when it mattered the most. They couldn’t stay healthy for most of the season and couldn’t get past an up-and-coming Phoenix Suns team in the first round of the playoffs.

The season ended with Giannis Antetokounmpo crowned as Finals MVP and the Milwaukee Bucks winning the ring for the first time in five decades. But LeBron James and company never stopped watching.

The Lakers made some nice moves in the offseason and have positioned themselves at the top of the Western Conference again, and you better believe that they’ll be extra motivated to make it to the Finals again next season.

If you don’t take our word for it, just ask LeBron James, whose recent activity on Instagram shows that he’s not ready to call it quits just yet:

“It’s not about (how) you fail. It’s about how you come back from it,” James wrote on an Instagram story.

LeBron and Anthony Davis will have a full offseason to heal their bodies and go back to full strength after rushing back to action last year after the bubble. That’s a scary thought for the rest of the league.

The last time James had a full summer to heal, the Los Angeles Lakers won the NBA Championship. Now, the Lakers also have Russell Westbrook and a plethora of veterans.

The upcoming NBA season promises to be one for the ages. All contenders look better and you better believe that the Western Conference will be a battle to the death.
