Giannis Antetokounmpo and his Milwaukee Bucks are one game away from winning the 2021 NBA championship, emulating what Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Oscar Robertson did 50 years ago.

This year, the 26-year-old is on a mission, trying to put his hands on the Larry O’Brien trophy. It’s not an easy job for the Greek Freak, but he’s confident this team can get it done.

He has evolved during his 8-year NBA career, becoming a terrific player and a heck of a leader in the process. He knows this is a collective effort and doesn’t mince words when praising his teammates. On Monday’s media day, Antetokounmpo explained how exhausting it is to try to win a championship, revealing that he and his teammates are tired but still focused on the goal.

“I’m tired. I look next to me, Khris [Middleton] is tired and Jrue [Holiday] is tired. It’s like they’re my brothers. That’s when you want to hug them, put your arm around them, like, we got this, we got this together, we got to keep doing this together until the end.”

He has found the best partners in crime in these two. When Giannis was sidelined with a knee injury, Middleton and Holiday showed up, taking the Bucks to the NBA Finals. Perhaps they haven’t been as consistent as the 2x NBA MVP during the Finals, but their little plays, the ones that nobody sees coming, are the reason why this team is so close to winning the NBA title.

The Bucks will try to seal the deal tonight, at home, against the dangerous Phoenix Suns. Once the job is done, they all can celebrate and rest.
