Chris Paul is one of the best point guards of his generation and has accomplished a lot in his Hall of Fame career. From winning Rookie of the Year to making 11 All-Star Teams, Paul has solidified himself as a top-10 point guard of all-time. Winning the NBA championship this year could very well boost his status to become a top-5 point guard ever. Looking at the start of his career until the point he is in now, Paul has played with some great teammates.

While not all of his best teammates were All-Stars, they were impactful alongside the Hall of Fame point guard. It is time to rank the top 10 teammates in Chris Paul’s career, starting from his time with the Hornets and finishing with the teammates he is playing with in Phoenix.

10. Mikal Bridges

Mikal Bridges

Mikal Bridges is a perfect 3-and-D wing in the modern NBA. He is only 24 years of age and is playing in the NBA Finals in his first postseason appearance in his young career. With the Suns alongside Chris Paul, Bridges is having a career year. He is averaging 13.5 PPG and 4.3 RPG on 42.5% shooting from the three-point line while playing above-average defense.

The fact that Bridges is already a top-10 teammate of Chris Paul is a testament to his growth as an impactful wing. The proof is in the pudding as well, because the play of Bridges has allowed Paul to be free on offense because the former is always ready to release a three-point jumper. Bridges also completes a solid defensive unit with Paul and Jae Crowder in a solid Suns starting lineup.

9. J.J. Redick

J.J. Redick

J.J. Redick, one of the best Duke players in history, is also one of the best knockdown shooters in modern NBA history. With the Los Angeles Clippers, Redick was a very effective duo with Chris Paul in the backcourt. Redick averaged 15.8 PPG on 44.0% shooting from three during 4 seasons with Los Angeles and made a living with Chris Paul feeding him the rock.

The “Lob City” era was mainly built around Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan but J.J. Redick was undoubtedly the 4th most important piece to the puzzle. Redick had his most success as a player playing 28.9 MPG while attempting an average of 5.8 three-pointers a game. Without Redick’s floor spacing, the Clippers would not have been as great as they were on offense.

8. Deandre Ayton

Deandre Ayton

Second-year center Deandre Ayton is already one of the best players that Chris Paul has ever played with. The only reason Ayton is not higher up on this list is that they have only played with each other for the first year this season. In the regular season, Ayton averaged 14.4 PPG and 10.5 RPG in his best season yet.

In the postseason, Ayton is putting up 16.0 PPG and 12.1 RPG and has had a tremendous impact on Paul’s run to his first NBA Finals appearance. Even though Paul has been a blessing to Ayton’s career earlier on, Ayton has also been a major factor in Paul’s best season yet.

7. Tyson Chandler

Tyson Chandler, New Orleans Hornets

Tyson Chandler was one of the best defensive players that Chris Paul has ever played with, and the center averaged 10.2 PPG and 11.3 RPG during his 3 years with the Hornets. Chandler was not only a rim protector but a great locker room guy who was an option for Chris Paul’s lobs.

Chandler completed a solid Hornets lineup because his length and defensive ability worked perfectly alongside All-Star forward David West. At times, Chandler played like a defensive star to form a solid Big Three with Paul handling the ball.

6. Peja Stojakovic

Peja Stojakovic

Peja Stojakovic is one of the best shooters Chris Paul has ever played with, even though he was past his prime during his stint with the Hornets. Stojakovic shot a career 40.1% from three, and he averaged 14.3 PPG on 40.4% shooting from deep. With Paul handling the ball, Peja had a solid role as a knockdown shooter from deep.

In 219 games with the Hornets, Peja started 204 of them as a shooting guard and small forward. In terms of pure shooters, Peja might be the top-3 best teammate that Paul ever played with. Stojakovic could not help Paul gain the success he wanted in the postseason but he was one of the best teammates in Chris Paul’s career.

5. David West

David West

David West was one of the best scorers that Chris Paul has ever played with, as he made an All-Star Team alongside the point guard. West averaged 21.0 PPG and 8.5 RPG in 2009 in his personal best season, and his pick n roll setup with Chris Paul was almost impossible to defend.

West was a tremendous knockdown shooter from mid-range and also had solid post moves when Paul fed him the ball. In West’s two All-Star seasons with the Hornets, he averaged 47.7% from the field and 86.7% from the free-throw line whenever he was fouled.

4. DeAndre Jordan

DeAndre Jordan

As a part of the Lob City era, DeAndre Jordan had his best years as a professional alongside Chris Paul. Even if Jordan lacked any offensive talent or shooting ability, Chris Paul maximized his ability to be an impact player on offense thanks to the alley-oop. As a matter of fact, Jordan has some incredible highlight reels with Paul feeding him dunks that will stand the test of time (Poor Brandon Knight).

Jordan even became an All-Star with the Clippers, averaging 12.7 PPG and 13.8 RPG to go along with 1.7 BPG. Jordan used his athleticism and height to be a great shot blocker and that helped Chris Paul lead the Clippers to playoff runs every year.

3. Devin Booker

Devin Booker On First-Round Matchup Against Lakers- "We Gave The Fans What They Wanted With A Playoff Berth And Now, We Want To Give Them Even More Of What They Asked For.”

Chris Paul has only played with Devin Booker for one season, but they are already in an NBA Finals together. Booker has greatly improved as a player with Paul’s mentorship averaging 25.6 PPG on 48.4% shooting from the field. Paul has also unlocked Booker’s confidence in his clutch shooting.

If Paul stays in Phoenix, Booker could end up being the point guard’s greatest teammate. Paul has never made an NBA Finals before and it took the scoring ability of Booker that helped him get there. Even if Booker helps Paul win the championship this year, the shooting guard could become the best player to play with CP3.

2. Blake Griffin

Blake Griffin Reflects On Being Traded From The LA Clippers: “I Understand For Sure… The Only Thing Is We Kind Of Wish They’d Gone About It A Different Way.”

The Lob City era could not be remembered without the talent and athleticism of Blake Griffin. Blake Griffin is one of the best players who ever played for the Clippers, and developed his game tremendously alongside Paul. With DeAndre Jordan by his side, Griffin was an unstoppable lob partner for Chris Paul on offense.

Griffin made 5 All-Star Teams as a member of the Clippers and was considered the best power forward in the NBA when Paul was feeding him the ball. With Griffin as Paul’s sidekick, the Clippers were title contenders in the Western Conference but they could never get over the hump thanks to unfortunate injuries and the threat of the San Antonio Spurs.

1. James Harden

Without a doubt, the best pure talent that Chris Paul has ever played with was James Harden. Chris Paul was traded to the Houston Rockets in a blockbuster move to form a ball-dominant duo with an MVP candidate James Harden. When people doubted their ability to be effective without the ball, the duo proved doubters wrong.

Harden and Paul were tremendous in leading the Rockets to multiple deep playoff runs including a Western Conference Finals berth in 2018. If Paul never got injured against the Golden State Warriors, he might have made his first Finals in 2018. Nonetheless, Harden became an MVP with Paul by his side and that makes The Beard the best teammate of Chris Paul’s career.
