The Los Angeles Lakers beat the Golden State Warriors in a 103-100 thriller which went down to the wire. The game featured an amazing closing long-distance shot from LeBron James, but it was Anthony Davis that led the team in scoring after the game was done, with 25 points.

The Golden State Warriors had a genuine chance to win this game, and that was evident in how close the game was. However, the Los Angeles Lakers locked down in the second half and managed to win the matchup, in large part due to Anthony Davis.

Coach Steve Kerr was motivating his team after the first quarter saying “They’ve got a lot of doubt down there, we’ve got a lot of belief”. Anthony Davis reacted to a post featuring Kerr’s comments.

It seems as though Anthony Davis was laughing at the notion of the Los Angeles Lakers doubting themselves. After all, they are the reigning NBA champions, and they are not your typical 7th seed. Any team with two top 10 players is an instant contender, and if LeBron James gets fully healthy soon, it is hard to see anyone in the Western Conference stopping that team.

We still have to wait and see how well the Los Angeles Lakers play against the Suns, but there have been good signs for them. Beating a top 5 defensive team that also has Stephen Curry isn’t an easy feat. We should never doubt the heart of a champion, and you can never count them out of the race.
