NBA Rumors: Kyle Lowry Is On The New York Knicks’ Radar For Free Agency

Kyle Lowry is a point guard that will be a premier free agency target this season. Despite the fact that he is an older guard in this league, Lowry has continued producing at a high level, currently averaging 17.2 PPG, 5.4 RPG, and 7.3 APG. Lowry is a 6-time All-Star, who would be able to help a team reach that next level. While he has spent a large part of his career with the Toronto Raptors, they are not contenders, and perhaps Lowry would like to win another ring before he retires.

Ian Begley of SNY recently reported that the New York Knicks could look at Kyle Lowry in free agency, as he is one of the point guards on their radar. The New York Knicks are the 4th seed in the Eastern Conference, but they look like they could use another piece or two before they are real contenders. Kyle Lowry is an elite star who makes the rest of the team better, so he would be an amazing target for a team looking to get to the next level.

Kyle Lowry is among the point guards on the Knicks’ radar for the 2021 offseason, SNY has learned.

Lowry will be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason. He will likely command multi-year offers from several teams, but his future in Toronto is unclear due to the uncertainty over the future direction of the franchise.

Current starting point guard Elfrid Payton and reserve Derrick will be free agents this offseason. Frank Ntilikina will be a restricted free agent.

Given how well Rose has played and give his history with Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau, it’s logical to assume the Knicks will make Rose a strong offer in free agency.

That wouldn’t preclude them from offering Lowry a one-year deal worth more than the annual value of any multi-year offers he gets from other teams. The Knicks can also offer Lowry a multi-year deal in free agency.

There are many playoff teams that could use Kyle Lowry as a complementary piece to their superstar. If the Knicks retain Rose and get Lowry, then their guard rotation would be solid. An understated fact is that Kyle Lowry is an NBA champion, and knows what it takes to win at the highest level. Kyle Lowry could become the veteran leader for the Knicks, and we will see whether he moves there or not this offseason.
