Contrary to what plenty of fans wanted, the Los Angeles Lakers are keeping Kyle Kuzma on the roster after they agreed to a 3-year, $40 million extension. Kuzma is expected to do big things with this team but nothing has happened so far.
The player showed flashes of what he could do in 2018/19 but after Anthony Davis’ arrival in Los Angeles, his level has decreased. Kuz is still young and he can only improve his game now, that’s why he decided to sign this contract extension. A big factor in that decision was that he wanted to “align” his contract with Anthony Davis and LeBron James’. They are expected to be the three best players on the team and Kuz made a decision according to that.
Kyle Kuzma said aligning his contract with LeBron and AD was a factor in his decision to sign an extension. He wants to compete for championships and continue to grow as a player before the option to enter free agency in his prime.

Last season he played coming off the bench, helping the Lakers second unit. Now Kuz wants to take his game to the next level and the Lakers are hoping to see the player he can become. He’s taking the right steps and is learning a lot from both Davis and LeBron. During preseason, he played at a great level but now things are about to change. The regular season is different and Kuz knows that.
This is a very important season for him to turn things around and change his narrative.
