LaVar Ball Says He Was “Happy As A Big Baller In A Doughnut Shop” When The Lakers Finally Traded Lozno

LaVar Ball beamed with pride when his eldest son, Lonzo, got picked up by the Lakers in the 2017 draft. Just two years later, he’d be cheering with joy following his same son’s trade to New Orleans.

In an appearance on “Club Shay Shay,” the Big Baller father explained his feelings regarding Zo’s departure from Lakers, and why it was the best move for him and the family.

“I was happy as a big baller in a doughnut shop. I don’t care about where they play, it’s about the situation they in and the fact that you’re in this field and you’re traveling all the time anyway, so home really ain’t no big a** deal.

It doesn’t matter where you stay. You’ve got to be in a place where a coach is behind you to let you do what you do and he believes in you to be that. If Magic was a coach, Lonzo woulda still been there.”

Obviously, LaVar just wants what he believes is best for his kids. Whether it’s in LA New Orleans or Charlotte, he wants a place where the Ball brothers can thrive and be who they are.

The Lakers weren’t giving that to Lonzo, especially once LeBron James arrived on the scene in his sophomore season.

So far, with the Pelicans, he has been doing better. But it’ll be up to Lonzo to prove he is worth investing more faith in.
