Chris Paul is heading to Arizona to team up with Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton in the SUns, a team expected to compete next season now that they acquired one of the best point guards in the game. CP3 was linked with the team for several weeks now and he’s finally a Sun, starring in the first blockbuster trade of the season.

Now he has found a new team in the league after a marvelous 2019/20 season in Oklahoma City but that wasn’t his first option. Before getting shipped to the Suns in exchange for Kelly Oubre, Ricky Rubio, Ty Jerome, Jalen Lecque and a 2022 first-round pick, Paul had more options to play this season, including the Milwaukee Bucks and New York Knicks. However, the All-Star point guard had different plans.

Suns owner Robert Sarver is bringing the future Hall of Fame guard to Phoenix, delivering Devin Booker a running mate and the franchise a leader. Suddenly, the Suns become a real factor in the Western Conference this season. https://t.co/gVkly4QpNa

Marc Berman of the New York Post reports that CP3 actually wanted to join the Clippers this offseason and the reason was savage. The reason? The Clips had just fired Doc Rivers as head coach and Paul was interested in a reunion with his former team. He created the famous ‘Lob City’ Clippers that blew a 3-1 lead against the Houston Rockets in 2015 and a return to LA was something appealing for him.

The Suns deal for Chris Paul is about done, per Woj. Was told CP3’s first choice was Clippers now that Doc Rivers is gone. Paul seemed mixed on New York.

Rivers was fired as head coach after the Clippers once again blew a 3-1 lead in the second round of the playoffs, this time against the Denver Nuggets, who took the most advantage of their flaws. Now Rivers is the helmsman of the Philadelphia 76ers and Paul is ready to start a new chapter in his career with the Suns.

Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton, as well as the Suns’ fans, are happy to have Chris Paul on board.
