New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson has faced a lot of ridicule on social media recently, but it’s not over his weight this time. A picture went viral this month, showing Williamson shooting his shot with Sydney Thomas, the attractive ring girl from the Jake Paul-Mike Tyson fight, on Instagram, only to get ruthlessly turned down.

Many believed this to be true, despite it being posted by “NBA Centel,” the notorious parody account on X. Other accounts have since picked this up as well, but the fact is this is just a total fabrication.
All you need to do is to look at Thomas’ post on Instagram and you won’t find this comment. While the cynics would claim Williamson just deleted it, it was really never there to begin with.
While we can clarify that this is fake, the damage has already been done. That post has over 200,000 likes and over 17.5 million views. It’s incredible how something like this can spread like wildfire and fool so many.
Neither Thomas nor Williamson have commented on this and I wouldn’t expect them to either. She should probably expect something along these lines to happen with greater regularity moving forward due to her rising fame, which is a shame.
Thomas is starting to become somewhat of a household name now thanks to her being a ring girl at that Paul-Tyson fight. With the clash between the two being a major letdown, she ended up being the biggest talking point from that night and has seen her popularity skyrocket.
Thomas, a model and a University of Alabama student, now has over 800,000 followers on Instagram and you should expect that number to grow steadily with time.
Thomas has also signed with Creative Artists Agency, which represents stars like Shohei Ohtani. She sure seems destined to make it very big at this point.
As for Williamson, he too made it big by becoming a superstar in the NBA, but unlike Thomas, his stock is perhaps at an all-time low at the moment. The two-time All-Star once again finds himself on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury and it’s still unclear when he will be able to return.
Williamson has played just six games this season and averaged 22.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 0.7 steals, and 1.2 blocks in them. It’s hard to be optimistic about his future in the NBA with how often his body is breaking down. Williamson was once looked at as a potential face of the league and it now looks like he won’t even come close to fulfilling his potential.
