Edy Tavares On Luka Doncic: “I’m Very Proud Of Him. There Is No longer LeBron, Now There Is Only Luka.”

No one, not even his biggest and most optimistic fans ever thought that Luka Doncic was going to be that good that fast. I mean, he had the tools to become quite a good NBA player but no one saw him taking the league by storm right out of the gate.

Fast-forward to the end of his sophomore year and it’s pretty clear that Doncic is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of talent. He’s been drawing a lot of praise and recognition among current and former legends of the game, even being compared to Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, or LeBron James.

However, most recently Edy Tavares, who happened to be teammates with LeBron James and Luka Doncic, feels like he’s already on a tier of his own and the NBA is his league now, even ahead of The King himself:

“I am very proud of him (Doncic), there is no longer LeBron, now there is only Luka,” the Real Madrid big man told Eurohoops.

The Atlanta Hawks had the chance to get Luka Doncic but traded him to the Dallas Mavericks as they saw Trae Young as their franchise cornerstone going forward. Up to this day, it doesn’t feel like they’re regretting that decision, with Young proving that he’s one of the best scorers in the league already.

However, the Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings, who were entitled to the 1st and 2nd overall pick of the 2018 NBA Draft, can’t be as confident. They got Deandre Ayton and Marvin Bagley, and both have already missed a lot of time due to either injury or a suspension, while Doncic has already led his team to the playoffs and put the world on notice right away.
