NBA Rumors: The Lakers And Nets Could Land Victor Oladipo If He Becomes Available For Trade

It’s not a secret that the Los Angeles Lakers are one of the biggest threats out of the Western Conference and that’s not going to change for as long as Anthony Davis and LeBron James are in town.

Then again, the purple and gold clearly need a third gunman that could help them carry the load once their shot isn’t falling, especially considering Anthony Davis has always been injury prone and the fact that LeBron James is about to turn 36 years old in December.

That’s why they may be interested in acquiring Indiana Pacers’ All-Star Victor Oladipo should he become available this summer, as per Essentially Sports.

The Lakers would work on a trade package centered around Alex Caruso, Kyle Kuzma, and Danny Green for the Indiana University product, who may not be a part of the Pacers’ long-term plans.

Indiana has made Domantas Sabonis their franchise cornerstone and the recent surge of T.J. Warren may mean that Oladipo is kind of expandable right now. He’s also had multiple major injuries throughout his career and his trade value may never be as high as it is right now.

Also, the Pacers recently fired coach Nate McMillan so whether Oladipo stays or not may also be up to their new coach.

The Lakers would get a player who’s still pretty young and that has proven to be one of the most versatile defenders and explosive scorers in the league when healthy. He may not be the sharpshooter they could use behind the three-point line but he can run the point, play off the ball, and even guard bigger players.

A Big 3 of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Victor Oladipo could make a lot of noise in the Western Conference. It’s a gamble but it’s definitely worth it.

Moreover, the Brooklyn Nets are also said to be interested in the combo guard, as per Bleacher Report. They’re reportedly going to be quite aggressive in the offseason to land a third star next to Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant:

“If Oladipo hits the trade block, look for other teams like the Lakers and [Brooklyn] Nets to pursue him, even without a long-term commitment,” Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report said.

The Nets have a handful of assets that could be quite appealing for the Pacers, and once Durant and Irving are set to come back, it’s unlikely that there are going to be enough touches for Spencer Dinwiddie, Caris LeVert, and Joe Harris.
