Joel Embiid was a part of “The Process” from day one. Since being drafted by the Sixers in 2014, he has completely bought-in, never doubting their rather unorthodox strategies or questionable leadership decisions.
He made his first All-Star team in 2018 and, since then, he has quickly emerged to become one of basketball’s premier big men. Just last year, he and the Sixers were projected to be a major player in the East for years to come but, unfortunately, their aspirations never came to fruition.
Terrible signings and poor trade deals have handicapped the team into dishing out millions of dollars to guys like Horford and Tobias Harris who, considering their performance this postseason, are clearly not worth their contracts.
Following their fourth straight loss, and elimination from the playoffs by the Celtics, uncertainty is rising in Philly and the future of their stars has never been so murky.
In the postgame press conference, a rather somber-looking JoJo answered to speculations about his future:
“I always say I want to end my career here. If it happens, good. If it doesn’t happen, well, you move on and all that stuff. But I’m here and I’m still gonna try to do my best to bring the Championship back to Philly. We got a lot of great talent on the team.”

Obviously, Embiid has expressed nothing but loyalty to the Sixers so far. Even now, he seems determined to win a title with this team.
But the roster, coaching staff, and front-office might all need significant changes if the team is to turn things around. This offseason will be huge for them going forward.
