Reggie Miller Says Zion Williamson Is Too Heavy, Needs To Lose 30 Pounds

Zion Williamson made an instant impact on the league when he made his debut with the Pelicans during the first months of the year. He was playing good basketball and somehow managed to change some people’s minds about the Rookie of the Year award this season. However, as soon as the Pelicans started playing in the Orlando bubble, Zion’s level wasn’t the same.

He played limited minutes but whenever he was on the court, he didn’t look good. Again, people started criticizing his weight, stating he was too big and that could create trouble for him and his body. Indiana Pacers legend Reggie Miller is one of those people saying Zion needs to lose weight in order to have a long NBA career. Miller has always been skinny and staying like that doesn’t seem too hard for him, but it’s different for Williamson.

“He needs to lose 30 pounds. He’s way too heavy,” Miller said, according to Stefan Bondy.

Still, the player isn’t bothered about any comments, as he recently said he was going to listen only to the people close to him and nobody else.

“Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. I’m just going to stick to the opinions of the people closest to me and my team, and just go from there,” the Pelicans star said, as quoted by Will Guillory of The Athletic.

Zion averaged 22.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game on 58.3% shooting through 24 games in his rookie season and he’s hoping to improve his level the next campaign, trying to take the Pels to the playoffs.
