‘Reggie Miller Would Average 30 Just On Threes Alone,’ Says Former Teammate

Comparing eras isn’t right in the eyes of many, but others think that gives an idea of how some players would fare if they went against different rivals with different styles of play and even different rules. One name doesn’t appear that much in these types of conversation is Reggie Miller, one of the greatest shooters in NBA history.

Miller was great with the Pacers, taking them to compete with two of the greatest dynasties in basketball, the Bulls of Michael Jordan and the Lakers of Shaq and Kobe. Although he never won against these teams, Reggie left his mark on the game in Indy. A former teammate believes he would be great in today’s NBA.

Antonio Davis joined ‘Inside Buzz with Mikey Domagala’ to talk about a variety of topics, including Steph Curry and Seth Curry as kids and how good they were at a young age, but the Currys weren’t the only sharpshooters he talked about. When he talked about Miller, he claimed the guard would’ve been able to score 30 points per game only on 3-pointers.

“You see guys like Klay, Steph, Damian Lillard. But Reggie was one of those guys, if he had space and at 6’7”, and he shot the ball really high, you weren’t blocking his shot. Truly accurate. I couldn’t imagine giving him the attempts they’re getting today, why he wouldn’t average 30 just on threes alone. Never scared to take a three, great footwork. The only thing that’s different today is shooting off the dribble. But as hard as he worked, it wouldn’t have been a problem for him.”

We’ll never know how Miller would have fared in today’s NBA, but those who saw him play think he’d be just fine playing in this era. Perhaps he would already have that elusive title that he never lifted during his active days.
