LeBron James On The MVP Race: “There Was A Lot Of Conversation Of ‘LeBron Can Do This In The East, But In The West What Could He Do.’ I Heard All Of That.”

The race to the 2020 NBA title is almost underway and as teams prepare for the restart, the intensity continues to rise.

And for the MVP award, most people see it as a done deal. Giannis Antetokounmpo has the best stats, has been unstoppable all season long, and has helped lead the Bucks to the best record in the NBA.

But LeBron James is in close second and in a chat with Lakers beat writer Harrison Faigen, he explained why he deserves the prize over his rival in Milwaukee.

“I think as far as the MVP race, I’ve shown what I’m capable of doing… There was a lot of conversation of ‘LeBron can do this in the East, but in the West what could he do.’ I heard all of that.”

In case you’re confused, LeBron is referring to the doubters who tried to take value away from his Championships because he was in the East — which has been the notoriously weaker conference in the NBA.

Since moving to the West coast, that noise hasn’t yet simmered down, and many still believe James is incapable of winning a title in the tougher, deeper, conference.

It’ll be up to Bron and the Lakers to prove them wrong, and it won’t exactly be an easy feat. Still, considering what James has been able to pull off this season, his name certainly belongs in the MVP conversation.
