Emotions are high all across the country right now. In the wake of George Floyd’s death, many have taken to the streets in either peaceful protests or violent riots against the very system that is supposed to protect them.

As one of the world’s most recognizable athletes, LeBron James is doing what he can to get involved and stand with his people. In a chat with Marc Spears of ESPN, former player Stephen Jackson revealed what King James told him in regards to the fight for justice.

“[James] posted me speaking, and I text him back, I say, ‘I appreciate you, bro. I won’t let you down,'” Jackson told The Undefeated’s Marc J. Spears during an Instagram Live session Monday. “He text me back, ‘You haven’t, and I won’t either.’ That was deep. I always tell people, [Michael] Jordan might be the best basketball player, but LeBron is the greatest athlete ever. It’s bigger than basketball with me why I love LeBron.”

LeBron James has already spoken up several times on this crisis, including this post on Instagram.

In fact, this isn’t even his first time speaking up on social justice issues in America. After the death of Eric Garner in 2014, he showed up to a game wearing an “I Can’t Breathe” shirt.

So, don’t expect silence from LeBron on these issues. He may be rich, famous, and very talented, but he’s also a black man living in America and if standing up for the country’s social issues will help people understand the big picture, you can expect him to do just that.
