Shaquille O’Neal had the chance to play with Kobe Bryant and LeBron James throughout his successful career, but for the big man, there is no better player in the history of basketball than Michael Jordan. Shaq grew up idolizing MJ and when he had the chance to clash with him, he knew all the things he witnessed as a kid were real.
He was a special guest on Wednesday’s episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where he had the chance to talk about his routine during the quarantine while also talking about his career and some of the biggest moments he lived.
When asked about what he felt when he first played against MJ, Shaq didn’t hesitate to explain how impressed he was with that moment, making it clear that Jordan is the greatest player of all time.
“I was like, ‘Wow.’ All this stuff I saw on TV, it’s real life. I was terrified. Once I realized he was human– One time he went up and I think I did block the shot, I realized I’m not as good, but I was close. I kinda calmed down. He’s definitely the greatest player of all time.”
As stated before, Shaq had the chance to compete and play alongside some of the best names in the history of the game, but for him, the response is clear, Michael Jordan is the best player in history.
