The Time Michael Jordan Lost A One-On-One Game Against A 45-Year-Old Mutual Fund CEO

2 Min Read

Michael Jordan is at least a top 2 player in the history of the game after all the impressive stuff he did during this professional career. MJ won six titles as well as several individual honors that put him in a great position among the greatest players of all time. However, as every competitor, MJ had to try the taste of defeat on more than one occasion.

Yes, that didn’t happen in the NBA Finals, but Jordan did suffer some defeats throughout his career and more so after he decided to retire from the game. Back in 2003, after he finished his stint with the Washington Wizards and his NBA career, Jordan was running his ‘Flight School’ fantasy camp for business executives.

The story says Jordan was unbeaten for 8 years at the time until he faced 45-year-old mutual fund CEO John Rogers Jr. It was a game to 3, but Rogers wanted to make history and seeing the final outcome of the game, he did so.

The game was thought to be a legend, but footage shows how MJ got beaten by Rogers, who according to SI’s Fan Nation, Chris Ballard, didn’t hesitate to make DVDs from that tape and share it among his friends and employees.

This has to be one of the best anecdotes anybody has to tell. It’s not like you know a guy that beat Michael Jordan in a one-on-one game every day.
