Lonzo Ball’s generosity made headlines when Angel Reese revealed a lighthearted yet touching story on her podcast, ‘Unapologetically Angel’. Reese, a standout rookie for the Chicago Sky, shared that Ball had given her $2,000 to cover a WNBA fine that turned out to be just $200. The revelation not only highlighted Ball’s kindness but also sparked a wave of humorous reactions from fans.

Angel Reese: “You gave me $2000, but do you know how much the fine actually was?”

Lonzo Ball: “I don’t know.”

Angel Reese: “It was $200.”

Lonzo Ball: “For real? I actually hit up coach Weatherspoon, make sure you got that. That’s why you know I trusted her though.”

Angel Reese: “She gave me in cash. I appreciate that.”

Lonzo Ball: “No doubt. That was a terrible tech. That was my first WNBA game ever.”

Angel Reese: “That was a crazy tech.”

Lonzo Ball: “Terrible, awful.”

Angel Reese: “That’s what happens in the WNBA.”

Lonzo Ball: “Did you get to appeal it though?”

Angel Reese: “Yeah, but I didn’t get my money back, I don’t know why.”

Lonzo Ball: “That’s trash.”

Angel Reese: “It’s cool. I guess it’s fine.”

The incident occurred during the Sky’s game against the New York Liberty on June 4. Reese was ejected after receiving two technical fouls for disputing calls and showing visible frustration toward the officials.

Originally fined $400, the WNBA later rescinded one technical, reducing the fine to $200. Ball, who was attending his first WNBA game, expressed his frustration on social media, calling the technical “terrible” and promising to cover Reese’s fine.

The revelation elicited laughter as Ball admitted he had gone through then-Sky coach Teresa Weatherspoon to ensure Reese received the money. Despite the humor, the moment highlighted Ball’s character. His decision to overpay wasn’t just an oversight—it was a reflection of his support for Reese and women’s basketball. As Reese noted, Ball didn’t hesitate to back her up, demonstrating his commitment to uplifting athletes in a league that continues to grow in popularity and recognition.

Ball’s gesture also added to the camaraderie between the NBA and WNBA. Reese, who has quickly become one of the WNBA’s rising stars, averaged an impressive 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds in her rookie season, setting a record for consecutive double-doubles. Her growing fan base and celebrity interactions, including this moment with Ball, underscore the increasing visibility of WNBA players.

This story further solidified Angel Reese’s reputation as a charismatic and relatable figure in sports while showcasing Lonzo Ball’s generosity and good humor. Their playful exchange during the podcast was a testament to the bond between athletes across leagues and a reminder of the positive impact of kindness, even in small gestures.
