His competitiveness and sincere dedication to his craft allowed him to amass a massive fan following worldwide, and even his fellow athletes from every sport loved and respected him.
As the days go by, we all pray that this tragic loss will be put into perspective and we look towards maintaining his legacy for the generations to come. As such, there is only one reason why the Los Angeles Lakers should win the NBA title this year and this is to honor the one and only Kobe Bryant.
Kobe’s Impact On The Lakers
Without a doubt, Kobe Bryant’s impact on the game goes beyond basketball. He singlehandedly kept an entire franchise relevant when there was nothing remaining but him and a few average role players as soon as Shaquille O’Neal was traded. Kobe hardly pouted, putting in the work and putting together countless memorable performances (including 62 points in 2 quarters and the 81-point game) to keep his team relevant.
He was soon repaid, as the Lakers finally paired him with another All-Star talent in Pau Gasol with whom he captured two NBA titles.
Kobe Bryant was arguably recognized as the best player in the league from 2004 until 2010, and he was possibly the most respected and admired player in NBA history other than Michael Jordan.
To many, Kobe Bryant was the greatest player of all-time and nearly all of the players playing today look at Bryant the same way past generations looked at MJ. To many, Kobe Bryant was simply the greatest and most skilled player of all time.
Los Angeles Lakers Won The First Championships Of The Last Two Decades
The Lakers, with Shaq and Kobe, won the first title of the 00’s decade. They beat the Philadelphia 76ers 4-1, even though they lost the first game.
Kobe was able to capture two straight NBA titles to start the decade of 2010, which really seems like it happened just yesterday. These two rings meant more to Kobe than any others, mainly because he put to rest all the talk that he wasn’t good enough to carry a team to a title.
Bryant never gave up his chase to equal or even eclipse Michael Jordan’s count of six rings, and he worked hard every day of his life to make sure he got as close to it as possible.
As such, it is only fitting that the Lakers capture an NBA title to start off the new decade. There is nothing more Kobe would’ve wanted for his team and franchise than to win the title to start off 2020 in the best way possible.
Even if Bryant was already retired, many regard him as Mr. Laker for his longevity and dedication to the NBA’s most renowned franchise.
When the Lakers win a title, it goes back to Kobe Bryant being one of the legends who paved the way for it to happen. We will surely miss him watching the game courtside.
Win A Title The Year Kobe Left Us
There is nothing more important for the Lakers than winning an NBA title. And while this was to continue the path to solidify their stance as the NBAs great franchise at the start of the year, winning a title should be honored and remembered as the title that was a tribute to the great Kobe Bryant.
The Lakers should go all in to win the title to honor Kobe in the year he left us. Bryant gave his heart and soul to the game, and it is no wonder teams such as the Mavericks are hanging up the #24 in honor of Kobe Bryant forever even if he never played for Dallas. Nothing would be more suitable for the franchise than winning the most valuable piece of hardware in the NBA and using it as a tribute in memory of possibly the greatest Laker of all time.
The Lakers have a very strong team this year, and they have an excellent chance to make this reality happen. As long as everyone stays healthy and motivated until the playoffs come, they are setting themselves up to honor Kobe with the thing he loved most: winning NBA championships.
