The Los Angeles Clippers went through a major roster overhaul during the season, first with Chris Paul’s sign and trade that landed them Sam Dekker, Montrezl Harrell and Patrick Beverley, signing Danilo Gallinari and Milos Teodosic, and then trading away Blake Griffin to the Pistons.
Doc Rivers doesn’t want to flat out a tank, but this kind of moves has pretty much stuck them in basketball hell, being not so bad to land a top 5 Draft pick, but not being good enough to even make the playoffs either.
Also, the team doesn’t have any young prospect to build around right now, not to mention DeAndre Jordan is set to become an unrestricted free agent during the summer and they’re pretty much wandering around right now. Today, we’re going to let you know about the top 5 moves they need to do during the offseason.
5. Trade Danilo Gallinari

Danilo Gallinari is a terrific baller when he’s able to actually suit up and play, but let’s face it, he’s injured way more often than he’s healthy and he’s just not worth $21,587,579 next season so they need to find a way to trade him this summer.
They need to get Gallo’s salary off their books ASAP, trading him to a contending team that’s willing to part ways with a couple of 2nd round picks in order to land a top-notch scorer off the bench (when healthy).
4. Resign Avery Bradley

Avery Bradley is a very solid player, a versatile offensive baller that can play either guard spot and even some small forward, and one of the craftiest backcourt defenders of the league, even if he didn’t have a good season.
Nonetheless, he’s still pretty much a risky bet, especially coming off an injury that cost him the last couple of matchups of the regular season, so they should avoid offer him a max deal, and hand him over a 2 or 3 deal, tops.
3. Trade Austin Rivers

Let’s face it, the only reason why Austin Rivers is on the Clippers (or an NBA roster, for what it’s worth), it’s the fact that he’s Doc Rivers’ son. He’s nowhere nearly as good as we all thought he would be and maybe is better for the Clippers to trade him as soon as possible.
Having said that, they need to offload him right now, trying to get at least some late 2nd round picks on a salary dump deal, and just hope Doc doesn’t lose it about the team not wanting to pay his injury-prone son anymore.
2. Let DeAndre Jordan Walk Away

DeAndre Jordan is one of the league’s best rim protectors, a huge presence down low that could anchor any defense in the world, and even an important offensive factor thanks to his strength and hops to finish lobs.
Nonetheless, he’s not a franchise player, nor the kind of player that could lead a franchise to the promised land, and with him demanding a max offer from the team, they don’t have a choice but to let him walk away from free.
Another solution is to sign him this summer and then to trade him in February for the 1st Round pick but it will be very tough because he wants to sign a max contract this summer.

Thanks to the Blake Griffin deal, the Los Angeles Clippers are entitled to a couple of lottery picks (12th and 13th) in this year’s very deep draft, and they could definitely bring some nice core pieces or try and use both picks to trade up into the top 10.
Either way, they need to put on some really nice scouting work during this couple of months, and just tank their way through next season in order to get their prospects going and let them grow through their mistakes.
