Jason Whitlock Takes A Shot At LeBron James: ‘He Turned Bronny James Into A Make-A-Swish Kid’

Jason Whitlock thinks LeBron James has made Bronny a 'Make-A-Swish' kid.

Controversial sports columnist Jason Whitlock believes LeBron James only has himself to blame for his son Bronny James being the subject of ridicule. On the latest episode of Saturday Night Live, Michael Che made a joke about Bronny when talking about Donald Trump’s victory in the U.S. Presidential election.

“It wasn’t even close,” Che said. “At one point, Trump was so far ahead, they put in Bronny.”

That joke, of course, refers to the fact that Bronny mostly plays in garbage time, when the result of the game is already decided. Whitlock reacted to it by stating that LeBron has turned Bronny into a ‘Make-a-Swish’ kid.

“This is what LeBron did to his child. Make-a-Swish kid.”

This is not the first time Whitlock has called Bronny, whom the Los Angeles Lakers selected with the 55th pick of the 2024 NBA Draft, a ‘Make-A-Swish’ kid. On an episode of Fearless with Jason Whitlock that came out on Oct. 31, he went off on LeBron and Bronny.

“This is reality TV, this isn’t competition. This is ‘Make-A-Swish’ kid,” Whitlock said. “LeBron James has turned his son into the ‘Make-A-Swish’ kid and they’re celebrating it… They get their butts kicked but LeBron had his moment with Bronny in Cleveland. They’re playing Bronny because they’re in Cleveland.

“Let’s bring our little ‘Make-A-Swish’ kid out and have him run around Cleveland on the basketball court like he’s done something, and like people in Cleveland give a damn about Bronny James,” Whitlock added. “The Program, the bots, the people that have been brainwashed showed up at the arena and felt like they had some kind of special moment, but it’s all an illusion.”

Whitlock then scoffed at LeBron’s reaction to Bronny scoring his first points in the NBA against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

“The ‘Make-A-Swish’ kid,” Whitlock stated. “I mean seriously, that’s what LeBron James is celebrating… If you’ve ever been to a spring football game where they bring out the ‘Make-A-Wish’ kid and let him score a touchdown, that’s what happened in Cleveland last night.

“LeBron James is smiling ear-to-ear as he continues to take a dump on real competition,” Whitlock added. “That is his legacy. Destruction of the NBA. It has less relevancy than at any point in the last 20 years. That’s LeBron James’ legacy. Everybody trying to put together a super team, everybody doing jersey swaps. That’s his legacy.”

Whitlock even claimed that James softened the league. He pointed to Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla advocating for fighting to come back in the NBA as an example of that.

“The ‘Make-A-Wish’ kid Bronny James scored his first bucket last night in Cleveland and I think it’s emblematic and I think it’s an indicator of just how far LeBron has destroyed this league, that they’re having spring football moments and letting the kid from the short bus score a basket,” Whitlock said. “… Will you remember where you were when Bronny James hit his first bucket in the NBA? And perhaps his last.”

Whitlock certainly wasn’t holding back then. He believes LeBron has done an incredible amount of damage not just to the NBA, but also to his son, by having him in the league. I can’t say I am too surprised by these comments considering some of the things that have been said in the past.

In 2022, Whitlock slammed LeBron and called him a puppet of China and Nike. He also stated the NBA icon won’t be remembered like Muhammad Ali.

LeBron has never responded to any of Whitlock’s comments, though, and he won’t this time either. His and Bronny’s sole focus at the moment would be on the Lakers’ next game against the Memphis Grizzlies at Crypto.com Arena on Wednesday at 10 PM ET.
