Michelle Beadle was not a fan of the presentation of LeBron and Bronny James‘ first moment together as teammates in the NBA. Speaking on ‘Run It Back’, Beadle called the moment inorganic and manufactured, claiming that it felt insincere. Overall, she said she was not a fan of the way the moment played out on screen.
“Russell Westbrook made it to the league on his own and did all that by himself. If this isn’t manufactured, then I don’t know what the word manufactured means. But, again, I am not impressed, and I thought this was so ridiculous.”
Beadle has a negative history with LeBron James. On numerous occasions, Beadle claims that James tried to get her fired when she was working at ESPN. On top of that, she has gone after him in the media several times. She even claimed once that James DM’ed her to ask her why she was so mean to him on air.
Beadle’s negative stance on the James family having a moment on the court is far from surprising. Regardless of the histrionics from Beadle, there is no denying how special the sight of LeBron and Bronny James as teammates was for the league. To see one of the game’s all-time greats play with his son as teammates was truly an epic moment.
LeBron and Bronny only shared the court for three minutes, as Bronny was taken out of the game soon after so that the Los Angeles Lakers could get the moment out of the way and focus on securing the win against the Minnesota Timberwolves, which they did, beating them 110-103.
LeBron had a decent game, putting up 16 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two blocks, going 7-16 from the field and 1-4 from the three-point line. Bronny James couldn’t make much of a mark in the few minutes he played, registering just one rebound and going 0-2 from the field and 0-1 from the three-point line.
Beadle Slams LeBron And Bronny’s Nike Commercial
Michelle Beadle didn’t just stop at criticizing the theatrics of LeBron James and Bronny’s moment on the court together. Prior to their first game together, Nike released a commercial featuring LeBron playing a rookie prank on his son. Beadle ripped the commercial to shreds, even claiming she would rather have her family in peril than be subjected to another viewing of the commercial.
“Of course, there was a commercial. This whole thing is well-planned. I almost wish my family could just be kidnapped and be taken hostage for life rather than ever seeing that again…”
This degree of hostility toward what was just an innocent and fun commercial was jarring to see. While Beadle may have her issues with LeBron James, it is hard to tell why she is going after him and his son so vehemently.
There is some merit to her criticism of the moment shared between the two on the court, albeit one can argue that Beadle is arguing in bad faith. But to critique a commercial that was meant for entertainment purposes is out of order. Do not be surprised to see Beadle maintain her harsh outlook on LeBron and Bronny James well into the NBA season.
