Luka Doncic had a funny moment during a Jordan brand promotional tour to China. While visiting the Great Wall of China with Jayson Tatum, Zion Williamson, and Paolo Banchero, the cameraman asked everyone to look anywhere. Doncic took this literally, turning his back to the camera and staring at the section behind him.

The moment immediately garnered laughter from everyone at the shoot, with Zion Williamson especially chuckling heavily. It was good to see Doncic and the other Jordan brand athletes enjoy themselves on their promotional tour to China, especially considering they will all be competing against each other in a few months.

This was presumably the first time Doncic was around Jayson Tatum since they faced off against each other in the NBA Finals. During that match-up, Tatum was the one who came out victorious, as he and the Celtics easily beat the Mavericks in five games to win the NBA championship.

Despite the loss, Doncic played great in the series, and he will be looking to return to the NBA Finals next season.

He will have more help, as the Mavericks went and improved their roster significantly in the offseason, signing Klay Thompson. Thompson will bring this young Mavericks squad some much-needed playoff experience. On top of that, he fulfills the need of the Mavericks for more shooters, especially if he returns to his best next year.

Doncic is already one of the best players in the league and a perennial MVP contender. Many fans are hoping next season can finally be the year that Doncic wins the MVP award, as he has failed to win it over the last few years despite great individual performances.

Luka Doncic: The Next NBA MVP?

Last season, Luka Doncic had a sensational season with the Mavericks, averaging 33.9 points, 9.8 assists, and 9.2 rebounds. He came close to averaging a triple-double the entire season, all while leading the NBA in scoring. Doncic was named to the All-NBA First Team for the fifth consecutive year.

However, he finished third in the MVP voting, right behind eventual winner Nikola Jokic and runner-up Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Many believe that he finished behind those two players in the voting as their teams had much better records than the Mavericks, with the Thunder and Nuggets clenching the first and second seed in the West respectively. Whereas the Mavericks were only able to secure the fifth seed.

If Doncic ever hopes to win the MVP award, the Mavericks will need to secure a high seed in the Western Conference. And with the roster they have going into the upcoming season, there is a solid chance that they can do that. Many experts believe the Mavericks will be one of the top teams in the Western Conference next season.

But for Luka Doncic, the goal will be to avenge the Mavericks’ loss in the NBA Finals. The Mavericks will have to be excellent in the playoffs, especially considering how stacked the Western Conference is next year, to get that chance. Luka Doncic must have the season of his life next year to accomplish both of his goals.
