White’s political beliefs will make it a challenge to actually win the Senate seat in a Democrat state, with the Democratic Presidential ticket featuring Minnesota’s Governor Tim Walz running for Vice President.
This isn’t his first electoral run, as he attempted to run against Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar in the mid-term elections in 2022. He wouldn’t get his name don’t he ticket after losing the Republican primary, but will be on the ballot for a Senate seat during the 2024 elections.
White’s political beliefs have brought him under fire on multiple occasions. He’s made negative comments about women and the LGBT community, even deeming himself a self-proclaimed anti-Semite as well. He’s been known to promote conspiracy theories from the likes of the controversial Alex Jones and has allegations of misappropriating campaign funds.
White is a native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, playing high school basketball there before being named Mr. Basketball for Minnesota in 2009. He went to Iowa State for college and would declare after three seasons, being selected No. 16 overall in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets.
Unfortunately for White, his potential was never realized and he didn’t have a successful NBA career. He struggled with his mental health and was at odds with the Rockets, never playing for the franchise outside the G League. This led to White being traded to the Philadelphia 76ers as a sophomore, another team he wouldn’t play for as he was waived before the season.
White played a few NBA games for the Sacramento Kings on 10-day contracts but never scored a point in the league and is often regarded as one of the biggest first-round busts in NBA history. He was a decent basketball player, going on to play in the Canadian NBL where he won league MVP in 2017 before making a name for himself in the BIG3.
