The Phoenix Suns, currently on a hot streak by winning 7 out of the last 8 games and occupying the 7th seed in the Western Conference, are reportedly exploring the possibility of acquiring Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges through a trade.

The Suns, featuring a star-studded lineup with Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal, recognize the importance of depth in making a playoff run and are actively seeking ways to bolster their roster.

According to Suns insider Gerald Bourguet, the team is confident about reaching a deal for Bridges, whose $7.9 million contract aligns well with Phoenix’s financial considerations. The potential trade could involve sending players like Nassir Little, along with a veteran minimum player such as Chimezie Metu, Yuta Watanabe, or Bol Bol to match salaries.

On the court, Bridges could be a valuable addition to the Suns, providing athleticism and versatility as an off-ball player. Averaging 20.8 points and 7.1 rebounds per game this season, Bridges could complement the Suns’ stellar offense.

However, obstacles stand in the way of a smooth trade. The Hornets are reportedly seeking draft picks, which the Suns lack due to previous trades for Durant and Beal. While the Suns have second-round picks in the coming years, it might not be sufficient to meet Charlotte’s demands.

Moreover, Bridges, despite his on-court contributions, comes with off-court concerns. His involvement in a domestic violence case in 2022, for which he served a 30-game suspension this season, raises questions about the potential public relations implications of acquiring him.

While a trade for Bridges remains uncertain, the Suns are actively exploring various options to improve their roster before the trade deadline. They are reportedly considering other players besides Bridges, including Jae’Sean Tate, Royce O’Neale, and Nick Richards, as they aim to address both defensive needs and overall roster depth. The upcoming weeks leading to the trade deadline will likely see the Suns making strategic moves to enhance their competitiveness in the stacked Western Conference.

The Suns Are Starting To Look Like A Serious Contender Now

The Phoenix Suns are surging, establishing themselves as serious contenders in the Western Conference with an impressive run of 11 victories in their last 15 games. This recent success has catapulted them to the 7th seed with a record of 26-19, and their offensive prowess is particularly noteworthy, ranking 3rd in the league with an impressive offensive rating of 121.8 during this stretch.

The trio of Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Bradley Beal, commonly referred to as the Suns’ three-headed offensive monster, is finally hitting its stride after grappling with injuries earlier in the season. The acquisition of Beal, for whom the Suns paid a significant price, is proving instrumental in creating a potent offensive force. The trio’s synergy and collective contribution are pivotal to the team’s recent success.

What sets the Suns apart as serious contenders is not just the star power but also the impressive performances from role players. Grayson Allen is enjoying a career year, providing consistent scoring and perimeter shooting. His contributions complement the scoring prowess of the star trio, adding another dimension to the Suns’ offensive arsenal.

Furthermore, Jusuf Nurkic has seamlessly adjusted to his role within the team. His presence in the paint and ability to contribute on both ends of the floor provide valuable depth, strengthening the Suns’ overall team dynamics.

With the Suns showcasing a harmonious blend of star power and supporting cast stepping up, they appear poised to make a deep playoff run. As the regular season progresses, Phoenix’s ascent to contender status is becoming more evident, and the Western Conference should take note of their growing threat on the court.
