Legendary rapper Snoop Dogg was the latest big name to appear on the All the Smoke podcast. The 52-year-old spoke on a wide range of topics there, which included who he considers to be the five best players in the NBA right now.

“That motherf***** from the Nuggets, (Nikola) Jokic,” Snoop said. “… That n***a right there, him off the tippy. When Ja Morant is on the court, I can’t even front, that n***a is different… He is a goon with the spoon.”

Snoop commended Morant for improving his outside shot and said he should get praised when he does something good.

“I like the n***a from the Oklahoma City Thunder (Shai Gilgeous-Alexander),” Snoop continued. “That n***a, he play like Snoop Dogg. I like him… Giannis (Antetokounmpo) been turning his light on and off, man. (Joel) Embiid the same way. Wait a minute Embiid keeping his light on a little bit more I’mma throw him in there.”

For his last pick, Snoop had plenty of big names to choose from but went with a young superstar.

“And one more? The young goon from Minnesota (Anthony Edwards),” Snoop stated. “That n***a will bang on your a**… That’s my top five right now. No Lakers in there right now. No disrespect. (LeBron James) you coming off the bench for being a old a** n***a with all that game. You still show up n***a.”

(starts at 1:07:11 mark):

So, we end up with Nikola Jokic, Ja Morant, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Joel Embiid, and Anthony Edwards, with LeBron James being an honorable mention of sorts. Snoop saluted the 39-year-old for continuing to play so well in his 21st season in the NBA, where he is averaging 24.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, 7.5 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game.

All in all, that certainly is a very interesting list. Snoop seems quite down on Giannis Antetokounmpo, in particular, which was quite surprising. You won’t find too many of these top five lists without Giannis, but everyone is entitled to their opinion of course. Other notable omissions in this list are Kevin Durant, Luka Doncic, and Stephen Curry, with none of them even being mentioned.

Snoop Dogg Wants The Lakers To Make Some Moves

Snoop is a longtime Los Angeles Lakers fan, and he isn’t too happy with what he has seen from the team this season. In this episode, Snoop said Lakers governor Jeanie Buss has to move some furniture amid their rough start.

“We gonna have to move some furniture,” said Snoop. “We gonna have to move some furniture real fast. Some big pieces of furniture if you know what I mean. We need to move some furniture around and put some dogs on the court because any time a young team comes to town, we freeze up. We can handle the old dogs but when them young goons come to town… c’mon Jeanie, what are we built on? Get us some young guns out there.”

He wants them to bring in players who are younger and more athletic than the ones on the roster currently. The Lakers, who are now 23-23 on the season, are almost certainly going to make some sort of move before the February 8 deadline. Dejounte Murray is the name that has constantly come up, but it remains to be seen if they can pull off a move for him.
