It’s hard to imagine what Draymond Green was thinking when he swung his arm in the face of Suns big man Jusuf Nurkic, but the punishment is expected to be swift and severe for the 4x champion. Around the league, as analysts struggle to find a reason why, former point league guard Gilbert Arenas suggested that Draymond’s antics are an attempt to humble the growing number of foreign-born players.
“I know what Dray doing,” said Arenas. “He’s taking care of these [Europeans] one at a time… The media is trying to push these Euros, and you’re choking and slapping them back. Do your thing!”
Dray see these Euros takin the league from our people and fightin back 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣

There certainly has been a rise in international talent over the past few years, and guys like Rudy Gobert and Jusuf Nurkic are examples of some of the best European players today. Whether by choice or sheer coincidence, Dray has built up a habit of messing with these types of guys but it may be more accurate to say that he’s built up a habit of messing with every type of guy. This season, he’s been completely out of control and it’s up to the Warriors to hold him accountable.
Lengthy Suspension Is Coming For 23
In his previous altercations, the NBA made it clear that Dray was already carrying a record of these incidents and they weighed it into account already for his five-game suspension earlier this season. Apparently, Draymond didn’t get the message because not even weeks after choking out Rudy Gobert, he couldn’t stop himself from flailing his arm around to make contact with Nurkic’s face.
At this point, there is no question that Green will serve a suspension but the only question is whether it will be 5 games or more. As for whether or not Draymond will ever change his behavior, I wouldn’t hold my breath. At 33 years old, Dray is set in his ways and he should know better than to put himself in situations that can cost him time on the court. Whatever message Green was trying to send (if he was trying to send one at all), he’s the one paying for it now as he awaits the ruling from Joe Dumars and Commissioner Adam Silver himself.
Panic Mode For The Warriors
With their defensive anchor facing another multiple-game suspension, it leaves the Warriors with no answers on how to stop the bleeding to their season. A 6-2 start gave them a lot of hope early on, but reality set in quickly for the Warriors when a massive losing streak saw them free-fall down the standings. Unlike last year, the problem seems to be the championship core itself. Between the inconsistencies of Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, the Warriors have been a shell of themselves on both ends of the floor and things got so bad recently that Steve Kerr was forced to bench the starters in a loss to the Suns.
Needless to say, the situation is dire in Golden State and it’s uncharted ground for a group that has accomplished so much together already. As presently constructed, only a miracle can save this team now, and it could be this realization that is pushing Draymond over the edge.
