As arguably the greatest team in NBA history, the 90s Bulls left a lasting legacy on the game of basketball and the team aims to honor them this year for the inaugural ‘Ring of Honor’ ceremony. Speaking on the ‘Dan Patrick Show,’ NBA legend Charles Barkley described the reunion, describing it as weird and uncomfortable given the events of recent history.
“I wanna go there and be a fly on the wall,” said Barkley. “You talk about weirdest, uncomfortable… uncomfortable won’t do it justice. I can’t wait to go to this.”
Barkley couldn't believe that the #Bulls are inducting Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, Phil Jackson, and others into the ring of honor all on the same night.

It’s astonishing that the Bulls are having this event more than 20 years after their most recent title, but they are moving forward with their plans and have made no statement on whether they expect Michael, Scottie, and Rodman to be there. Currently, Jordan and Pippen are no longer on speaking terms and it dates back to the release of ‘The Last Dance’ documentary back in 2020. Jordan’s portrayal of his co-star in the project was apparently deeply offensive and it’s been a bitter cold war between them ever since. Last we heard, the former co-stars had no inkling to rekindle their relationship.
A Legendary Run
No matter how Jordan and Pippen feel about each other today, nothing can erase their work together over a dominant era for the Bulls. In eight years, Chicago built a dynasty in the East with Jordan and Scottie leading the way. Together, they won six championships and put together a dominant period of Bulls history that changed the game forever. While it was ultimately Jordan’s leadership and talent that led the way for the Bulls, Pippen set the tone on the other end with a consistent and elite defensive effort.
While the two never acted as best friends in the locker room, they always showed respect for each other and it was believed that their bond as champions would always overpower whatever divisions came between them. Obviously, that’s not the case today and it saddens many fans to see these once-successful teammates become borderline enemies. If the Bulls can get these guys to make up for the ‘Ring of Honor’ ceremony, it will be the first step in a healing process that’s long been overdue.
What Happened Between Michael And Scottie?
The beef between these former stars begins with ‘The Last Dance’ documentary. Pippen canned the project after release and called out Jordan himself for misrepresenting what went down all those years ago. While Jordan stayed quiet through all the criticism, Pippen intensified his attacks over time, eventually making wild accusations about Michael as a leader and player. At one point, he even called no. 23 “horrible” on the court in a statement that outraged many fans.
Fast forward to more modern times, and we can add another complication to their relationship. As of December 2023, Marcus Jordan and Larsa Pippen are still romantically involved, meaning that Michael and his former teammate are actually closer to family members than rivals. For now, we still don’t know when or if we’ll see the two share the same space again, but all eyes will be on the Bulls for his ceremony on the off-chance that both stars show up to honor the occasion.
