Amen Thompson and Ausar Thompson are hoping to enjoy long careers with the Houston Rockets and Detroit Pistons, respectively, as the franchises selected them with the No. 4 and 5 picks in the 2024 NBA Draft. In their process of settling down in their new cities, both brothers went home shopping with Overtime.

The first video shows Ausar Thompson getting comfortable in Detroit.

He first saw a five-bedroom mansion worth $1.9 million. While seeing the house, Ausar joked about how Amen would be made to sleep in the bathroom if he came over whenever the Rockets played the Pistons. He’s sure that he will purchase a better home than Amen, claiming that the only times Amen has outdone him is when he was the elder twin by minutes and when he got drafted ahead of him.

The second video takes a deep dive into Amen’s journey of finding a house in Houston.

Amen saw three houses. The first was a $1.35 million mansion where he offered to make a small room Ausar’s guest room, kindly saying he’d put a chair in the room to give his brother a place to sleep. He even called Ausar during the visit and gave his strong opinion on white furnishings. He also saw a $950,000 home with an elevator inside the house, shocking Amen, and a $1.05 million converted loft.

With the twin brother starting their NBA careers in opposite conferences, they’ll have to find ways to get comfortable in their city while maintaining a close bond with each other.

Ausar Thompson Had A Historic NBA Debut

In his first game in the NBA, Ausar Thompson impacted the Pistons in a way not many expected. He started in place of the injured Bojan Bogdanovic and showed clear signs of struggle while adjusting to scoring in the NBA. He went 1/7 in his 27 minutes of action and scored just four points. But he made his mark with defensive aggression and hustle.

Thompson grabbed seven rebounds in the Pistons’ one-point loss to the reigning Eastern Conference Champions, the Miami Heat. The most impressive part was that he blocked five shots, the most by a non-center in a rookie debut.

Everyone saw his offensive struggles coming a mile away, but he already looks like he could contribute at a high level in the Pistons rebuild. As his shot develops, he has the potential to be one of the most potent two-way threats in the NBA.

Amen Thompson Is Showing Flashes Of His Talent

Amen didn’t have as impactful a debut as his brother, but he did showcase why the Rockets have been so high on him. He came off the bench and played 21 minutes, scoring eight points with five rebounds and two assists. The Rockets as a whole looked bad, scoring just 86 points against the Orlando Magic.

Like his brother, there are some scoring hurdles to overcome in the NBA, though Amen looked a lot more assured in his scoring pursuits. He also kept hounding opponents on defense and tried to hustle on the boards, but has a lot to learn at the NBA level.

With Fred VanVleet ahead of him in the rotation, Amen will have to work hard to get Ime Udoka to trust him to start over or alongside VanVleet. This is just the start of a long NBA journey for both twins, who are looking to develop as individual players in their unique situations.
