  • Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of the most popular superstars in the league

For young players who are just entering the league, there might be a moment when they face the veteran stars that they grew up watching and maybe based their game on.

There is no doubt that meeting your idols growing up might cause a younger player to be starstruck. In fact, the Oklahoma City Thunder forward Josh Giddey admitted that he was starstruck by Giannis Antetokounmpo the first time they played one another.

“I would say the first time I stepped on an NBA court. I was getting to see the superstars I had been watching growing up. I would say Giannis. That was like the first NBA star that I really played against. Probably the first time it [being starstruck] ever happened to me.”

There is no doubt that Giannis Antetokounmpo is an electric player who is fun to watch, even when facing off against him. His dunking ability is insane, and he is a versatile point forward who is capable of playing all five positions on the basketball court.

Even though Josh Giddey has a long way to go before reaching Giannis Antetokounmpo’s level, he has had a pretty good start to his career thus far. Giddey made the 2021-22 All-Rookie Second Team, and during the 2022-23 season, Giddey averaged 16.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game this season.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Claims That He’s More Popular In Greece Than LeBron James And Michael Jordan

It is clear that Giannis Antetokounmpo is already popular in the United States, but his popularity overseas in Greece is even bigger. In fact, Giannis Antetokounmpo previously said that he’s more popular than Michael Jordan and LeBron James in Greece.

“The way LeBron James is or Michael Jordan is for the States, the same way I am for Greece. Maybe larger.”

There is no doubt that Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of the premier NBA superstars, and he has a lot of endorsements from prominent companies such as Nike, Hulu, and Budweiser. Winning more championships like Michael Jordan and LeBron James should increase his popularity even further.

Hopefully, we see Giannis Antetokounmpo become even more popular in the future. He is a true example of someone who has worked hard to achieve their dreams, and we’ll see just how much he can accomplish in the league.
