A lot of players would end up passing the ball to a teammate if they were triple-teamed, but clearly, that was not the case for Kobe Bryant. Though many knock him for his shot selection, in some ways, it did benefit his teams. Defenses often had to sell out when guarding Bryant because he was willing to take any kind of shot, and that often led to easier opportunities for his teammates.

Throughout his career, Kobe Bryant averaged 25.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game for the Los Angeles Lakers. Bryant is clearly one of the best perimeter scorers ever, and everyone respects what he was able to do in the league.

Gary Payton Explained What Made Kobe Bryant Different From Other Players

It is clear that Kobe Bryant’s mentality is what separated him from a lot of other players. Gary Payton previously revealed what made Kobe Bryant different, claiming that Bryant didn’t have a fear of asking others about how to get better.

“Kobe was already different, he was a different kid,” said GP. “Kobe didn’t have a fear of nothing to ask nobody to get better. So he came by me and was like, ‘big bro man you’ll be doing this and that and that… I really wanna learn this man. I really want to learn it because of you.”

A lot of players want to make their own path in the NBA, but there is nothing wrong with asking for help to improve. Kobe Bryant understood that, and that is one of the reasons why many respect him as one of the greats.
