Damian Lillard finally demanded a trade from the Portland Trail Blazers after playing 11 seasons with the franchise. Lillard has conveyed the message that he wants to be traded to the Miami Heat.
However, according to a recent report, Damian Lillard was also interested in joining the Golden State Warriors before they traded for Chris Paul. NBA analyst Chris Broussard thinks even if Lillard had won a title with the Warriors, it would have been worthless.
“Let’s say they won the Championship, this wouldn’t be like a legacy-changing ring for Dame,” Broussard said on First Things First. “If he goes to Miami and they win, if he went to Boston or Philly and they won it, it’s a legacy-changing ring. You go to Golden State, which has won four rings; it’s great! Dame finally won! It’s awesome! Doesn’t change the legacy at all. Doesn’t change your legacy.”
Dame winning it all w/ Warriors = Pity Ring 😌
Dame winning it all w/ any other team = Legacy Changing Ring 🐐

Playing for the Warriors could have been a sure-shot way for Dame to win the first NBA Championship of his career. But the value of the said ring would have been diminished. After all, fans saw that happen with Kevin Durant.
KD joined the Warriors in 2016 and won two NBA titles. But many have destroyed Durant over the course of his career to win two easy rings.
Damian Lillard Wouldn’t Report To Play If He Gets Traded To Any Other Team Than The Miami Heat
Damian Lillard is intrigued by Miami Heat’s culture. He shared his desire to play for the Jimmy Butler-led team several times already.
But there is a very real chance that the Trail Blazers will trade him elsewhere. Well, Lillard is trying to get his way by announcing he won’t even show up if any other team trades for him.
“He just wouldn’t go,” a source told Mark Medina. “He just wouldn’t report. I don’t think the other team would trade for him knowing that he doesn’t want to be there. He’s a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer so they should respect his wishes.”
It is an interesting strategy by the 32-year-old. After being loyal to the Trail Blazers for 11 seasons, Dame is finally trying to push for a move that suits him the best.
Lillard finished the 2022-23 NBA season with 32.2 PPG, 4.8 RPG, and 7.3 APG. Any team would be lucky to have him on their roster, but certainly not against his will.
