The NBA Finals are still on, but the rumor mill for next season is in full swing. A report that took the basketball world by storm dropped recently, saying that Kyrie Irving was trying to recruit LeBron James to the Dallas Mavericks.
Now, this sounds a little outlandish, but crazier things have happened. NBA fans and media members both reacted to it and a 2K creator, Shady, made a hilarious reel about it using the WWE.
The reel seems to be showing Nikola Jokic and Stephen Curry ganging up on LeBron James, presumably a metaphor for what is going on in the Western Conference. Jokic is about to hit LeBron with a chair when Kyrie interferes and chases them away from the ring. That seems to be a metaphor for them teaming up if LeBron comes to Dallas.
The whole thing is quite hilarious, but there is also some truth to it. With the KIng advancing in years, the path through the Western Conference will not be easy as he chases his 5th championship. Teaming up with Kyrie Irving would certainly help the immediate cause, but it’s very unlikely that the Mavericks and Lakers can work something out on that front.
Gilbert Arenas Doesn’t Want LeBron James In Dallas
While some want to see LeBron James and Kyrie Irving playing together once again, it’s hard to see how they would also fit in with Luka Doncic. And while some have supported the idea of a potential move to Dallas, Gilbert Arenas doesn’t want LBJ to do it.
“@kingjames think about your legacy. You go to Dallas wearing that (Green and blue). Looking like a black a** peacock will have you behind Karl Malone with that (glacier ice blue and violet) they were wearing. Looking like a whole WNBA colorway. You can only be a great in (gold, man purple, red, white, and black).”
In any case, whatever people may want to see, the Mavericks don’t have the assets to make the trade for LeBron James. There is one realistic way in which it can be done, but it is still very unlikely. Whether it happens or not, at least we got some funny memes out of it!
